[ARCHIVED] Police Investigating Collision Involving a Car Into Restaurant

On November 18, 2021, at approximately 1:26 pm, Alhambra Police Department’s Communication Center received notification of a vehicle which had collided into Chenghu Taste restaurant located at 828 W. Valley Blvd.

Alhambra Police and Fire personnel responded and located six victims inside the restaurant and began treating them on scene. Three victims were transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries and three other victims were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The initial investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle involved was attempting to make a left turn onto eastbound Valley Blvd, when he pressed on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing him to drive onto the sidewalk and into the restaurant’s front window injuring the restaurant patrons.  The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Alhambra Police Department Traffic Investigators are at the location and are handling the investigation.

Valley Blvd. between Atlantic Blvd. and Seventh St. will remain closed for the next several hours.
