On June 28, 2021, Governor Newsom signed Assembly Bill (AB) 832 into law, which extends the protections available for residential and mobilehome space renters facing eviction due to COVID-19 financial hardship through September 30, 2021. This also extends the rental assistance available through the State of California for impacted tenants and landlords.
The Los Angeles County Temporary Eviction Moratorium, effective March 4, 2020, through September 30, 2021*, unless repealed or extended by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, places a Countywide ban on evictions for residential and commercial* tenants, including mobilehome space renters. Under the County’s Moratorium, tenants may not be evicted for COVID-19 related nonpayment of rent, failure to pay back rent under the terms of a repayment plan for rent accrued during the Moratorium, as well as no-fault reasons, nuisance, denying entry to a landlord, or unauthorized occupants or pets – if related to COVID-19.
