Recognizing teamwork and education is essential to creating environmental change. Republic Services works with the City of Alhambra to help High School students reach waste reducing goals within the City and become leaders in the five R’s; Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle. As part of the effort to make recycling second nature to all City of Alhambra residents and Alhambra college-bound senior high school students, Republic Services and the City of Alhambra are proud to announce the Annual Environmental Scholarship Program.
Annually, Republic Services awards five (5) $1,000 scholarships to five (5) City of Alhambra Resident students for the Annual Environmental Scholarship Program. High School college-bound seniors living within the City of Alhambra are eligible and encouraged to write an essay on environmental stewardship.

2022 First Annual Environmental Scholarship Program
In June 2022, Alhambra City Council and Republic Services commended the winners of the First Annual Environmental Scholarship Award. Republic Services joined with the City of Alhambra to award five scholarships of $1,000 to Alhambra students. Each finalist submitted an essay based on the theme of environmental stewardship and acknowledged the power of future generations to innovate greener living standards, an environmentally sound economy, and an environmentally sustainable lifestyle.
The City of Alhambra is pleased to congratulate Alhambra students Carlos Campa, Kelani Kea Fong, Ethan Lam, Mytam Le and Rebecca Wu for their achievements and for inspiring others through their dedication to the conservation of our planet.
