Located in Los Angeles County, Alhambra is the “Gateway to the San Gabriel Valley.” It is bordered to the north by South Pasadena and San Marino, to the east by San Gabriel, to the south by Monterey Park and to the west by Los Angeles. The City of Alhambra was incorporated in 1903 and chartered in 1915 with a Council-City Manager form of government. Alhambra is a full-service City with 4 major parks, public library, an 18-hole municipal golf course, more than 30 churches, community hospital, theaters, shopping centers and business and industrial districts. There are also 13 elementary schools, 4 high schools and 7 private schools within Alhambra’s boundaries. The campus of California State University at Los Angeles is located adjacent to Alhambra.
