Valley Boulevard is a vibrant, emerging business district encompassing Asian markets, a growing number of restaurants, retail, banking and other service-type businesses. There are several major Asian bank headquarters located here, along with Asian-owned and operated businesses that cater to the city's large Asian population.

This fact is not exclusive, however. Valley Boulevard is also home to many well-known national and local retailers. The large "Marketplace" shopping center stretches from Almansor Street to Market Lane and is comprised of such names as Big!Lots, Staples, Big 5, Chinatrust Bank, Fashion Island, Sally Beauty Supply, Wells Fargo Financial, Kragen Auto Parts, Dollar Tree, Radio Shack, Payless Shoe Source, Susie's Deals, Vista Optical, ADA Flowers, See's Candies, Rite Aid, Lucky Market, Subway and Anna's Linens.

Each year, the San Gabriel Valley Lunar New Year Parade and Festival is held on Valley Boulevard. The Parade, from Del Mar to Garfield Avenue, is broadcast live on Chinese radio, KWRM AM 1370 and later on worldwide cable and satellite TV.
